Michele Thorsten

Deaf Hard of Hearing Teacher

Hello, my name is Michele Thorsten. I have been a Deaf//Hard of Hearing Teacher for the West Central Education District since September 2006.  I work with students with hearing loss from birth through age 21 in the Paynesville and Albany/Avon school districts. I enjoy the variety and challenge of working with such a wide range of ages! It also affords me the opportunity to get to know my students from year to year. Traveling to see students in different schools can be difficult at times, but I feel so welcomed and included at each of my locations, that I look forward to my travels.

I grew up in Moorhead, Minnesota, where I graduated from Moorhead Senior High School in 2001. I went to the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities where I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Deaf Studies in December 2004. I then went on to get my masters degree In Deaf Education from the U of M in December 2005. I completed a K-12 reading program at St. Cloud State University in 2009.
